A Day In Paradise: The Plantation Bay Style

I have been working in Cebu for almost 4 years from 2011 to 2015 and I have never even dreamt of going to Plantation Bay in Mactan, Cebu because I wast just a simple girl with simple dreams; dagat lang, okay na. Little did I know, time is surprisingly fascinating. As the cliché conveys, if it is your time, grab it; seize the opportunity while the path remains lit!

This time I was able to fly home to the Philippines and I got the opportunity to repay my mother for everything she has done for the past 28 years lol! It was never planned, in fact, we had a different agenda during that time; yet when all else fails, always have a plan B.

We decided to head to this resort for a day-use escapade since it was coined as the Traveler’s Choice by Tripadvisor from 2013-present. It costs Php 2,000 nett per person on weekdays, Php 2,500 nett per person on weekends as well as  during holidays and 50% off for children 0-12 years old.

Here are the inclusions of the package:

  • 11.4 Hectares of pure bliss
  • Lunch and choice of drinks
  • Lagoons and swimming pools
  • Wall climbing, archery, golf, use of bicycles
  • Non-motorized aqua sports (nips floater/kayak)
  • Billiards, foosball, air hockey and table tennis
  • Shower and changing facilities

Landscape Deets

It is an enormous man-made tropical resort that encloses both freshwater and saltwater pools. The open sea beachfront is 88 meters long which is a separate cove and the waters are exceptionally clear. The rooms, additionally, have a spectacular view that connects directly to the lagoons; so you can sleep and swim then eat then sleep again. Circle of life! 😉

One of the few resorts I have been into where a map was provided. Yes, it’s that massive that you need to familiarize with the area and know where to proceed for towels, lunch, activities and pools.

Kilimanjaro Lunch

  1. Kilimanjaro Kafé,international.
  2. Fiji, seafood and Asian specialties.
  3. Palermo, tapas and pastas.
  4. Savannah Grill, fast-food favorites with 5-star flair.
  5. Alien Abduction, ice cream and cocktail.

The lunch included in the day use package is a plated lunch located in Kilimanjaro Kafé where there are choices of an appetizer, a main course and a dessert. We chose one for each type of menu to try and taste each viand. It is also Safari-inspired making you feel like you’re lunching in Africa. Take note: when they say half chicken, it’s half of a chicken that could feed you for an entire day!

Freshwater and Saltwater Pools

The area is enveloped with about 70% freshwater pools and only 30% of saltwater ones. The salty ones are situated in separate sections of the resort unlike the freshwater ones that are exposed, thus with more scenic views.

Water Activities

Paddle boards and kayaks are available all day and can be used for a limited time. If you want to use it longer, additional charges may be applied.

Outdoor Activities

Archery, golf, wall climbing and more! One thing I learned in life is that if you have the chance to experience something new, do it. I thus learned that in archery, your arms becomes weary after several minutes of holding the bow up in mid-air. It’s no joke, it’s heavy. Golf was another story. I learned that there are types of clubs and their specific uses; the flat one and the upright. Makes me feel like Tiger Woods for a day!

Relax and Indulge

One way you could unwind in the resort is to tour around the place using a bike, the club cars or their kalesa! The club cars are easy to access too, just notify the staff that you need a ride and they will arrive in no time!

Massage is always a good idea! Here is my mother waiting for me to start her massage and my aunt on the right resting on her much-needed space.

Photo Sesh!

Who wouldn’t want a photo session with this kind of view? Well sorry for this but we gotta do what we gotta do. 🙂 Btw with me is my cousin Jed, savoring the moment while our mothers are relaxing on their backs.

So there you go! That was our day use for Plantation Bay Resort and Spa. Before heading to the resort, call them for your specific queries. Outside food is allowed, as long as it is on a moderate level; only a limited number of chips, no viands, no drinks, et.al.

Post script: The friendliest and most helpful staff are here, and they are all good-looking! Pleasant personality at it’s finest!

Try visiting the Resort and see for yourself. Bye for now. 😉
